A brief history
When he first set foot in Australia in April 1981, Father Augustine Lazur from Poland had a mission: to extend the influence of Our Lady of Jasna Gora to yet another country.
After many interesting adventures, which are recounted in a book available from the Penrose Park bookstall, Father was led to the Southern Highlands of New South Wales and in 1984, with a great deal of faith and the help of countless benefactors, purchased the property now known as Penrose Park.
24 May 1997 was a great day of celebration, with the consecration of the new church.
With the blessing of Our Lady of Mercy (as She is known in Australia) and the support of thousands of faithful pilgrims, we have already witnessed many miracles here.
In 2008, the Pauline Fathers celebrate the 700th Anniversary of their Papal approval of the Order of St Paul the First Hermit. A special outdoor Mass was held on 18 January 2009. It was a hot day so most people sought shelter under the trees! The photos below are of the occasion.
